Welcome year 9 to your outdoor education class. We will be doing Cape to Cape hike of seven days long in 4 weeks time.

This lesson we are going to learn about- The environment.

Introduction topics:Brief intro on where the trip is- maps and distance covered.

Where - It winds along the spine of the Leeuwin - Naturalist Park, in the South Western Corner of WA.
What - It is a walking track running for 135km; linking Cape Leeuwin in the North to Cape Naturallist in the South.
When - In the 1980's it was decided to develop a dedicated walking track between the capes. A bicentential Grant in 1988 kick started the project. Constuction of the track started in the id 1990's and the Official opening was in April 2001.
Who - Acknoledge tradition owners of the land. The Wadandi people enhabited the northern half of the area and the Bibbulman people inhabbited the lower half. that was untill White men, John Dewar and Andrew Smith came along and were the first to walk the Area on their way to the Swan River.

Brain storm- what the students think they may need to know about the trip everything, from what to pack to plants they might see.

Students access Myclass follow link to cape to cape website – find answers to questions and write answers on interactive whiteboard. Use timer on whiteboard.
Discuss answers and go into detail on- 1 plant, bird, retile, and mammal.

Next topic- Weather on hike. Utube clip of weather
Different clouds bring different weather conditions; discuss how this affects the trip.

Activity- on interactive whiteboard.
Conclusion- go to my class page and vote what they are more interested in.
